Moral Perfection

After reading Benjamin Franklin’s writing about moral perfection, I have a few things to say about his thoughts. I agree with his virtue of temperance because we all love to eat as much as we can of the foods we love, but because we eat so much food, there isn’t enough food for those less fortunate than us. Those people don’t get the food that they need to survive and some don’t get any food at all. I agree with the concept of only speaking words that benefit yourself and others, but no one only speaks those words. Everyone says things that are negative and help no one, but that doesn’t mean they are morally imperfect. Also, the virtue of order makes perfect sense but even though everything has its place and time, most don’t follow that virtue. Resolution is harder than most people seem to think it is. Resolving problems takes a lot more work and both sides of the argument have to agree to resolve the issue. Another virtue of Franklin’s, frugality, is a great concept, but easier said than done. Even without noticing it, everyone wastes something in their life, whether it be time, money, or food. Industry is a concept I agree with fully. Those who complain they can’t fend for themselves, but also don’t take any time to try to get a job, have no right to complain. You should always try to be employed so your time isn’t wasted doing nothing. The virtue of Sincerity is another very good concept but very few follow it completely. Everyone wants to speak innocently and accordingly but it’s a very hard thing to do. We all let curse words slip, or hurtful words be said to those they hurt the most. It’s a way of life, being considered morally imperfect because of it is wrong to me. Justice is another virtue I agree with, but haven’t followed. I have done the wrong things many times in my life, but I like my life where it is and how it is progressing so I don’t consider myself morally imperfect because of it. Moderation is a concept I don’t fully understand. I don’t really understand what he is talking about by “forebear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.” Cleanliness is the concept I agree with the most. Not caring about not washing your clothing, or your body is disgusting to me. Also, having pig sty as a living space is disgusting as well because of bugs or rodents possibly living in there with you. Tranquility is a good concept as well. Becoming angry over simple mistakes that other people make is a waste of time that could be spent on something much more worth while. Chastity is a virtue many people don’t follow because of personal desires that are hard to resist at some points. Humility is inevitable at many times in a persons life, and can’t be prevented. Humiliating others is sometimes done without noticing but it is the same situation both ways.

There are many things that I want out of my life. Mainly, I want to be successful in getting a good job and having a family. Having a good job would mean having a good source of income to support myself. Also, I want a job that I want to do instead of waking up every morning and hating what I have to do at work. Hopefully, I will be a successful Accountant in the future. Also, having a family is very important to me. I have always wanted to eventually have a husband and a child or maybe 2 children. I love when family members or friends have a baby because I love playing with them. Babies area adorable and I’ve already taken care of babies while babysitting so I have diaper changing experience also.

I have a few plans to get what I want in life. I plan to go to Penn State Lehigh Valley for 2 years with Accounting as my major. I then plan to transfer to either DeSales or Cedar Crest College to go for my masters degree in Accounting. After researching information about being an Accountant, I found out that with your master’s degree you could start out with close to a $50,000 salary. That would be a great job for me, especally since I love Accounting already. I have very good grades in my Accounting class at the moment and plan to take business courses my senior year. Also, with a salary like that, I will be able to help support a family. I plan to stay together with my current boyfriend for a while so hopefully we will eventually get married. We have already talked about the future and if we want kids. I hope to stay with him for a while, but don’t really have a plan as to how to do that besides continuing to do what I have been doing the past almost 2 years.

My back up plan for what I want in life isn’t as clear to me. If I turn out to not like accounting, I would like to be a web page designer. The money isn’t as good but I am also pretty good with the codes we need to use and like working with computers. If I can’t have a family with my current boyfriend, I guess my plan would be to live my life until the right guy comes along. At this moment in time, I feel that my current boyfriend is absolutely perfect for me. I can foresee use lasting for a very long time. But, if something should happen between us and we would break up, I would just go on with my life. Eventually the right guy for me will come into my life. I just hope I will be able to have a child and have the chance to grow old with my true love.

“Life isn’t about how many breaths you take, but how many moments take your breath away.” – Carlos Ojeda Jr.

The first time I heard this quote, I was watching the movie “Hitch” starring Will Smith. In the beginning of the movie, Will Smith’s character said this quote. I consider this to be a very inspirational quote. Carlos Ojeda Jr. was trying to tell us to live for those moments that take our breath away. Trying to live just to be able to have the time to breathe more and be around longer, is not the way to live. You need to be able to live for the best moments in life, and live for something worth living for, not just sitting around waiting for something to happen. If you want something, you have to go after it instead of waiting for it to come to you. Strive to have more moments that take your breath away instead of just breathing normally and living a boring life. I plan to live my life by this quote. When I want something out of life, I will go after it instead of sitting at home or work waiting for it to find me on its own.

Fast 15: Sacrifice

The more I think about making sacrifices, the more I notice that I am not a major risk taker. I would honestly sacrifice anything for the one I love, and for my family. My family means the world to me, even though sometimes they get on my last nerve. I sometimes wish my brother would of never been born, but I know that it would never be the same without him. I have given up sleep, food, and important time to benefit him in many ways. Also, my mother is the last parent I have and I want her with me for a very long time. I don’t want her to miss my wedding, graduation from college, the birth of my children, and any important things my children will do. Hopefully she will be around at least until they are older and can understand that as she gets older, she will have less years left with us and will eventually leave us for a better place. I have no idea what I would do without my mother. She and I have gone through so much between my parents divorce, and her finding things out in ways that she wasn’t very happy about. But, when it comes to the one I love, he means more to me than anything else ever will.

The one that I love has my heart and I don’t know what I would do without him. So, instinctively I will give it all for him. I would give my blood, donate an organ to save his life, pay all the money I possibly could just to make sure I could be with him as long as possible, if something went wrong with his heath. Even though I am only 16 years old, I can imagine my life without the one I love. We have been through so much in the past almost 2 years. I would give anything to be with him longer, no matter what it is. I’d give him the world if I could, so sacrificing an organ or crucial time for him would be easy. Right now, sacrificing everything seems like a simple and easy decision, but hopefully if that time comes, it really is that simple.

To get better at throwing a toss and catching it correctly for color guard, I need to improve several things. First, I need to make sure my hands are in the correct places on the flag pole. Next, I need to make sure I know the correct movements that are before letting go of the flag to toss it. Also, I need to make sure that when I toss the flag, it stays above me instead of going in front of me, to the side of me, or behind me. Then I need to make sure that I know hot to specifically catch this toss, which means I need to think about what I am doing before I do it. Finally, I need to make sure I catch the flag before it touches the ground and make sure I catch it cleanly.

I have had to deal with loosing someone very important to me. I lost my father when I was 12 years old, and I regret the things I said the day before he died. He was my hero because of everything he did for my brother and I through my parents divorce and my everyday life. On Sunday, December 11th, 2005 my father was pronounced dead at 5:45 am. He was out on his delivery run for the Morning Call and was on his way home when he got involved in a one person car accident. He drove over a curb and hit a telephone pole during this crash. When the ambulance arrived, he was able to talk but was very injured. His cause of death was neck trauma from that accident. At 9:00 am that day the police came to my moms town house and told us the news. My mom was not home at the time, but my Aunt Sharon was still there. My mom rushed home to hear the news because we told her it was something very important about our dad. My parents were divorced already at this point but she still cared about him greatly. After they told my mom and everyone knew that he was dead, we went to the apartment that my dad, Garrett, and I lived in to get our school stuff and clothes. We called our babysitter, who was more like my older sister, about the news and she and her dad, my dads best friend from high school, came over to get Carina’s things. After we left the apartment, we went my my grandmothers house, my dad’s mom, to tell her everything. She took it harder than anyone because he was her only child that lived in PA and her youngest child. I called my best friend Danielle and told her when I got back home, and she was speechless and even cried along with me over the phone because my dad was like her second dad. I went to school the next day so I could be with friends for comfort because if I would of stayed home I would of been asked tons of questions from my mom to make sure I was ok, and i didn’t want that at all. My friends all felt horrible and didn’t know what to say about it to help me. It was by far the hardest time of my life. The great thing is that I had family, friends, and teachers all there to help me and listen to what I have to say if I needed to talk about it.

If I had to choose one technological invention that I feel is most important to help benefit mankind, it would be the computer. Programs like Microsoft Word and Keynote are a major help to students. These programs make writing essays or creating Power Point presentations much easier for projects for school. Computers help mankind communicate with each other. Anyone may talk to friends and family and even teachers using computers. The Internet that plays a major role in this situation, communication. The Internet helps students’ research for school projects, find pictures for slide shows, and even play games when they have nothing to do. In the future, computers will help mankind even more, with more memory; faster Internet connection and more compact and light-weight.

Programs like Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Keynote are a major improvement for mankind. PowerPoint and Keynote are amazing programs that people use to make slide shows to use in projects. With these programs, students can make their presentations better with different colors and unique transitions. Microsoft Word helps students write essays in any kind of format with double spacing and using headers and footers. Microsoft Publisher helps students make professional brochures like major companies. Publisher easily organizes a large amount of information into a much smaller space. Microsoft Excel helps accountants organize their expenses and revenues into a chart that can even do the math for them. These programs help many people with projects for any class or occasion but computers also help mankind communicate.

Communication with friends, family, and even teachers is another major improvement in computers. AIM is an instant messaging program that is a free download for anyone and it makes it very easy for people to instantly message one another. Skype is also another free instant messaging program that also includes the ability to call and video chat with another person. If you call someone with Skype you have to purchase minutes, which is the only way you would have to pay for a part of that program. Also, the free social networking sites, like Myspace and Facebook, are there for anyone to find old friends, send messages, play games with each other, and put pictures on. On both of these sites you are also able to instant message people but they have to be friends with you on these sites. Stickam is another free website that anyone may use to video chat with people from anywhere in the world and meet new friends. A major part of communication is emailing, which is sending people messages over the Internet with email sites like MSN, Yahoo, and Google Mail or Gmail. Communication is important to mankind and made simpler by computers, but the Internet as a whole is a necessity to mankind in this time period.

http://tinyurl.com/yep5t3p

http://tinyurl.com/yep5t3p

The Internet as a whole is very important to the world because of search engines, game sites, and news sites. Google and Bing are two of the major search engines that are on the Internet. They can be used to look up anything from your own name to information for school projects or your ancestors who immigrated to America from another country. There are websites that offer games you may play for free and without downloading them like Addictinggames.com, which saves memory on computers. Also, there are websites like Playfirst.com and Bigfishgames.com that allow anyone to download hour trials to any game of their choice and purchase them for a low price if they would like to play the game longer. Yahoo and MSN are major websites that are used to look up the latest world news, gossip on celebrities, and politics. The Morning Call is a very popular local newspaper which has its own website, Mcall.com, which is a major convenience to mankind because it saves paper used to print newspaper while you read the news online. The Internet is a great invention already along with the computer but in the future, they will only improve more.

http://tinyurl.com/yd8gx4c

http://tinyurl.com/yd8gx4c

Computers are already a major technological invention for mankind to benefit from, but over time, they will improve greatly. Every year, new computers come out that have even more memory than they ones from the year before. New computers will also come out with new programs that will make school and work much easier for mankind like better versions of Microsoft Word or Keynote. Also, as time goes on there will be computers that connect to the Internet even faster than they do now with Windows 7. Newer and better forms of communication over the computer will also come out in the future. New computers that will be sold will be lighter and smaller which make them more convenient for anyone to carry around during the day. Another major point is that computers will, in the future, be seen as inventions that help our economy by saving paper because more people will begin to read the news over the Internet. Computers are amazing inventions because of their access to the Internet, programs to help with school, and communication, but also they help save the environment and make our lives easier.

There are many traits that I believe make an ideal and loving relationship last a long time, like true love, honesty, and trust. True love is the most important trait in a loving relationship in my eyes. If, there is no feeling of true love in a relationship, there is no base for the love in a loving relationship. Without love, there is no connection between the two people, besides anything physical. Honesty is another trait that should be in a loving relationship because a relationship that has lies in it, never lasts as long as ones without lies. Even if you lie once, more lies tend to build up after it, and they build up faster than anyone would expect. Trust is a very important aspect in a relationship because if someone does not have full trust in their partner, they might not be able to see them self being married to that partner. Many aspects make a loving relationship last, true love, honesty, and trust are just a few that make relationships that much better.
